¡Hola!
Spanish is offered to all first through fourth grade students in the district. The program provides a foundation for successful life-long language learning. In keeping with a communication-based approach, the students are exposed to hands-on activities, songs, games and role-playing. Communication skills are further developed in the children by using culturally appropriate celebrations and artifacts. In these early years, the focus is on listening comprehension and emergent speaking proficiency, with some exposure to reading and writing in the target language. The cultural context is woven throughout the elementary Spanish curriculum.
