Skokie Chorus is a wonderful opportunity for students who show an enthusiasm for singing and enjoy performing as part of an ensemble. Singers develop vocal and interpretive skills that strengthen their musical, choral and soloistic abilities while singing in unison, two- and three-part harmony. Membership is a full year commitment and involves rehearsal once a week before school, with the option of also being in a smaller group that rehearses once a week after school. All are welcome to join regardless of previous experience.
Fall Performances include:
An EVENING HOLIDAY CONCERT for parents and friends featuring Skokie Chorus, Washburne Singers & Skokie and Washburne Orchestras. Our tradition is to conclude this concert by collectively performing "Gloria" from Vivaldi's GLORIA.
An AFTERNOON ALL-SCHOOL HOLIDAY ASSEMBLY for Skokie students featuring Skokie Chorus, the Sixth Grade Band and the 6th Grade Orchestra. This concert showcases all three ensembles and also includes several sing-along songs for the whole audience!
Spring Performances include:
A CHORAL FESTIVAL for parents and friends featuring Skokie Chorus and the fourth grade choruses from Hubbard Woods School, Crow Island School, and Greeley School. Each school chorus is featured in several songs and the concert concludes with all the ensembles singing together.
An appearance at FOURTH GRADE ORIENTATION for future fifth grade students who will be attending The Skokie School and their parents to welcome them all to The Skokie School and to share what a great group they could be a part of.
An EVENING SPRING CONCERT for parents and friends featuring just the Skokie Chorus! This concert showcases members of the full ensemble, the smaller extra ensemble and a number of soloists.
A FULL-DAY TOUR OF THE THREE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS for all the students at our feeder schools featuring Skokie Chorus and Washburne Singers.
