Assessment Plan

We believe that our children should have multiple opportunities to demonstrate what they know. Assessment is a tool that provides a picture of the child in the process of being a learner. This perspective guides educational priorities and includes parents in the process. The value of the individual and his/her contribution to the world lies in the manner in which he/she uses intelligence, experience, and creativity in real-life circumstances.

Assessment Overview

This presentation provides an overview of the three categories of assessments used in The Winnetka Public Schools: 1. Program Evaluation (allows school leaders to evaluate program effectiveness across classrooms and plan accordingly); 2. Institutional Accountability: helps leaders and communities know how well schools are meeting set standards (i.e., state standards); and 3. Classroom Assessment: helps students, teachers, and parents set goals and make instructional decisions.
