ISAT Presentation 2010
This presentation provides an overview of the results of the 2010 Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) for The Winnetka Public Schools. The ISAT is mandated for all students in grades 3-8. The test is designed to see how a school’s curriculum is meeting state standards. Data is compared grade level to grade level by year, as well as longitudinally by cohort. Information is also shared relative to Township trends and National norms.

Presentation Terminology

  • Township - New Trier feeder districts include Glencoe, Kenilworth, Sunset Ridge, Wilmette, Avoca, and Winnetka
  • Cohort - a group of students followed by grade level
  • Longitudinal Data - data generated by a group of students (a cohort) over a period of time
  • Local School Districts - New Trier feeder districts as defined above in Township (see Township)
  • Median - the middle number in a given sequence of numbers
  • Stanine - a type of scaled score used in many norm-referenced standardized tests. There are nine stanine units (the term is short for "standard nine-point scale"), ranging from 9 to 1. Typically, stanine scores are interpreted as "above average" (9, 8, 7), "average" (6, 5, 4), and "below average" (3, 2, 1) (Pearson Educational Measurement Group). The normal distribution across stanines looks like a bell curve.
