The Alliance for Early Childhood hosted the 2nd Annual Preschool Kindergarten Summit at Chicago Botanic Garden on February 9, 2017. For the second year in a row, The Winnetka Public Schools was proud to partner with other sponsors to support this sold out professional learning event, which drew educators from the North Shore and other parts of the country. This year’s theme was “Cultivating the Whole Child: Building Strong Social Emotional Foundations in Today’s World." Erika Christakis, early childhood education expert and the author of the recent New York Times bestselling book, The Importance of Being Little, delivered the keynote address, The Importance of Being Heard: Responsive Caregiving in the Early Childhood Habitat. Sessions were presented by experts from Chicago Children’s Museum, The Fred Rogers Company, the Erikson Institute, and other organizations.
